FAQs of E-Aadhaar

1. What is e-Aadhaar? 

e-Aadhaar is a password protected electronic copy of Aadhaar. It is digitally signed by the competent Authority of UIDAI.

2. Is e-Aadhaar equally valid like physical copy of Aadhaar?

As per Aadhaar Act, e-Aadhaar is equally valid like physical copy of Aadhaar for all purposes. For UIDAI circular on validity of e-Aadhaar, please visit https://uidai.gov.in/images/uidai_om_on_e_aadhaar_validity.pdf 

3. How to validate digital signatures in e-Aadhaar?

Computer must be connected to internet while validating digital signature. The following steps should be followed:

a. Right click on the ‘Validity Unknown’ icon and click on ‘Validate Signature’.

b. You will get the signature validation status window, click on ‘Signature Properties’.

c. Click on ‘Show Certificate’.

d. Verify that there is a certificate path named ‘NIC sub-CA for NIC 2011, National Informatics centre’. This identifies ‘NIC sub-CA for NIC 2011, National Informatics centre’ as the owner of the digital certificate that has been used when signing the document.

e. Mark the certificate path named ‘NIC sub-CA for NIC 2011, National Informatics centre’, click the ‘Trust tab’ and then ‘Add to Trusted Identifies’.

f. Answer OK to any security question that follows.

g. Check (√) the field for ‘Use this certificate as a trusted root’ and click OK twice to close this and the next window.

h. Click ‘Validate Signature’ to execute the validation.

4. What is the password of e-Aadhaar?

The password of e-Aadhaar is the combination of the first 4 letters of name in CAPITAL and the year of birth (YYYY). Example: Name: Ranjit Singh; Year of birth: 1990; Password: RANJ1990.

5. How can e-Aadhaar be downloaded?

e-Aadhaar can be downloaded by the following two ways:

a. By using Enrollment Number: e-Aadhaar can be downloaded by using 28 digit enrolment number along with Full Name and Pin Code. In this download process, OTP will be received on registered mobile number. TOTP can also be used instead of OTP to download e-Aadhaar. TOTP can be generated using mAadhaar mobile Application.

b. By using Aadhaar Number: e- aadhaar can be downloaded by using 12 digits Aadhaar Number along with Full Name and Pin Code. In this download process, OTP will be received on registered mobile number. TOTP can also be used instead of OTP to download e-Aadhaar. TOTP can be generated using mAadhaar mobile Application.

6. From where e-Aadhaar can be downloaded?

e-Aadhaar can be downloaded by visiting UIDAI website – https://uidai.gov.in/ or https://eaashaar.uidai.gov.in

7. What is Masked Aadhaar?

Mask Aadhaar is an option which allows to mask the Aadhaar Number in the dowmloaded e-Aadhaar. Masked Aadhaar number implies replacing of first 8 digits of Aadhaar number with some characters line “xxxxx-xxxx” while only last 4 digits of the Aadhaar Number are visible.

A new scheme New India Literacy Programme has been approved by the Ministry of Education for adult education for the next five years for all non-literates in 15 years and above age group. The total estimates budget of the scheme is Rs. 1037.90 crore.

New India Literacy Programme

Ministry of Education (MoE) approved a new scheme New India Literacy Programme to integrate all the aspects of Adult Education to align with the National Education Policy, 2020 for the next five years (FYs 2022-2027). The Ministry has also decided to use the term Education for All instead of Adult Education because the term Adult Education did not represent all non-literates in 15 years and above age group.

Total estimated budget of New India Literacy Programme is Rs. 1037.90 crore

 Salient features of the New India Literacy Programme 

  • School will be Unit for implementation of the Scheme. 
  • Schools will be used for conducting survey of beneficiaries and Voluntary Teachers (VTs). 
  • Different strategies are to be adopted for different age cohorts. Flexibility for States/UTs will be provided to undertake innovative activities. 
  • Foundation Literacy and Numeracy will be imparted through Critical Life Skills to all non-literates in the age group of 15 years and above. 
  • Performance Grading index (PGI) for State/UT and district level will show the performance of States and UTs to implement the scheme. 
  • Priority and Saturation in Literacy – The age cohort of 15-35 will be saturated first followed by ages 35 and above. Priority will be provided in terms of categories to the Girls and women, SC/ST/OBC/Minorities, Persons with Special Needs (Divyangjans), Marginalized/Nomadic/Construction workers/laborers etc. In terms of location/area, all aspirational districts of NITI Aayog, districts with literacy rates less than the National/State average, districts with female literacy rates less than 60% as per 2011 census, districts/blocks with large SC/ST/Minority population, Educationally backward blocks, Left Wing Extremism Affected districts. 
  • The estimated total outlay of the scheme is Rs. 1037.90 crore which includes Central share of Rs. 700 crore and State share of Rs. 333.90 crore for the FYs 2022-2027. 
  • The scheme will cover non-literates of the age of 15 years and above in all States and Union territories in the country. 
  • The term Adult Education will be replaced by Education for All. 
  • As per Budget 2021-2022, increased access to resources, online modules covering the entire gamut of the adult education will be introduced.

Objectives of New India Literacy Programme

  • To impart foundational literacy. 
  • To cover other components like: 
  • Critical life skills including financial literacy, digital literacy, commercial skills, health care and awareness, child care and education, and family welfare. 
  • Vocational Skills Development for obtaining local employment. 
  • Basic Education including preparatory, middle and secondary stage equivalency. 
  • Continuing Education including engaging holistic adult education courses in arts, sciences, technology, culture, sports and recreation, as well as other topics of interest or use to local learners, such as more advanced material on critical life skills).

Mode of implementation of New India Literacy Programme

  • The scheme will be implemented through volunteerism through online mode. 
  • The training, orientation, workshops of volunteers, may be organized through face-to-face mode.

Why is New India Literacy Programme needed?

  • The absolute number of non-literates of the age group 15 years and above is 25.76 crore as per 2011 census. 
  • In consideration of the progress of persons certified as literates being to the tune of 7.64 crore under the Saakshar Bharat Programme implemented during 2009-10 to 2017-18, it is estimated that currently around 18.12 crore adults are still non-literate in India.

Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana is a voluntary and contributory scheme launched by Central Government to provide old age protection and social security of Unorganized Workers (UW). Under this scheme, a minimum assured pension of Rs. 3,000 per month will be provided after the age of 60 years.     Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana

    Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana is a central government scheme that was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 31st May 2019. This scheme is meant for old age protection and social security of the Unorganized Workers (UW). Under this scheme, a minimum monthly assured pension of Rs. 3,000 will be provided to the UW after attaining 60 years of age. It is a voluntary and contributory scheme with a monthly contributions ranging between Rs. 55 to Rs. 200 till the age of 60. Through this scheme, 42 crore Unorganized Workers in India will be benefited.

    Features of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana 

    • A minimum assured pension of Rs. 3,000 per month on the maturity of the scheme. 
    • It is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme with a monthly contribution ranging between Rs. 55 to Rs. 200. 
    • The scheme is for those workers in the Unorganized Sectors who contribute around 50% of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). 
    • The applicants should be between the age of 18 to 40 years.


    Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana

    1. Benefits to the family on death of an eligible subscriber: If an eligible subscriber dies during the receipt of pension, his spouse shall be entitled to receive 50% of the pension received i.e Rs. 1500 per month as family pension.

    2. Benefits on disablement before attaining 60 years of age: If an eligible subscriber become permanently disabled before attaining 60 years of age and made regular contributions, and is unable to continue to contribute under this scheme, then -

    a.     his spouse shall be entitled to continue the scheme by paying monthly contribution as applicable.

    b. his spouse can exit the scheme by receiving the share of contribution deposited by  the an eligible subscriber, with interest as actually earned by the Pension Fund or the interest at the saving bank interest rate thereon, whichever is higher.

    3. Benefits on Leaving the Pension Scheme:

    a.     If the an eligible subscriber exits this scheme within a period of less than 10 years from the date of joining the scheme, then the share of contribution will be returned with savings bank interest rate payable thereon.

    b.    If the an eligible subscriber exits the scheme after completion of 10 years or more from the date of joining the scheme but before attaining 60 years of age, then the share of contribution shall be returned with accumulated interest thereon as actually earned by the Pension Fund or the interest at the savings bank interest rate thereon, whichever is higher.

    c.     If an eligible subscriber dies before attaining 60 years of age but made regular contributions, then -

    his spouse shall be entitled to continue the scheme by paying monthly contribution as applicable or his spouse can exit the scheme by receiving the share of contribution deposited by the an eligible subscriber, with interest as actually earned by the Pension Fund or the interest at the saving bank interest rate thereon, whichever is higher.

    d.    After the death of an eligible subscriber and his or her spouse, the corpus shall be credited back to the fund.

    • The age of the workers should be between 18 to 40 years. 
    • The monthly income of the workers should be Rs. 15,000 or below.

    How to apply for PM Shram Yogi Scheme?

    Step 1: The eligible subscriber should visit the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) along with all the necessary documents.

    Step 2: The documents should be handed over to the Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE).

    Step 3: The VLE will complete the online registration by filling all the necessary details like Bank Account details, Mobile Number, Nominee name etc.

    Step 4: The monthly contribution payable according to the age of subscriber will be calculated by the system.

    Step 5: The subscriber will pay the 1st contribution amount in cash to the VLE.

    Step 6: Enrollment cum Auto Debit mandate form will be printed and will be further signed by the SMF. VLE will scan the same and upload it into the system.

    Step 7: A unique Shram Yogi Pension Account Number (SPAN) will be generated and Kisan card will be printed.
